Viidakosta valtamerelle osa 2 - Welcome to the jungle... y vamos a la playa PART 2

Dodiin,  taas tarjoutui rauhallinen hetki kirjoitella jatkoa näihin muistelmiin. Jäätiin siis Tarapotoon ja ensimmäiseen viidakkovilkaisuun. Jatketaan siis matkaa, seuraavana kohteena oli Yurimaguasin satamakylä ja kahden päivän jokilaiva"risteily" Amazon-joen latvuksilla.

Well well, again I have peaceful moment to continue this travelling diary. In last part we were in Tarapoto and had the first glimpse to the jungle. Let´s then carry on, next travelling target was little harbour village named Yurimaguas and two days in river boat in Amazon river.

Ensimmäinen yritys lähteä Tarapotosta oli jo ennen auringonnousua klo 5, mutta yhteispäätöksellä jäätiin nukkumaan vielä lisää. - Fist attempt to leave Tarapoto was at 5 am, but together we decided to stay and sleep a bit more.

Kahdeksalta aamulla meitä tuli hakemaan auto, joka osoittautui kimppataksiksi. Pääsimme n. 7 euron (20 solen) maksulla Tarapotosta kolmen tunnin matkan Yurimaguasiin. - At 8 am a car was called to our hotel and we found out, that it was a collective taxi that would take us all the way to Yurimaguas. Three hours in cousy car and it costed about 7 euros (20 soles) per person.

Vielä oltiin hetki pilvien päällä. - Last moments ower the clouds for a while.

Toisten matkanteko ei ollut ihan yhtä leppoisaa. - Others didn´t travel as cousy as we did.

Yurimaguasin pääkadun vilskettä kun ajoimme kylästä läpi. - A view of the main street in Yurimaguas, when we passed the village on our way to harbour.

Yurimaguasissa taksi vei meidät perille satamaan, jossa ensimmäisiä näkyjä oli laivamme sisaraluksen saapuminen. - In Yurimaguas taxi took us to the harbour and first things to see was the arrival of another similar river boat than ours was.

Lisäjännitystä toi vilkaisu saapuvan laivan etukannelle: vankeja! Myöhemmin saimme tietää, että siinä oli 22 mies- ja 4 naisvankia menoss Chachapoyasiin vuorille vankilaan. Ja siellä on kylmä. - Exiting was as well to notice who were arriving with the boat: prisoners! Later we found out, that there were 22 male and 4 female prisoners going to prison of Chatchapoyas. That is in the mountains and it is cold out there.

Kiikarointi jatkui joella aina perille saakka ja pikkuhiljaa Iquitos alkoi häämöttää. - Binoculars were in use until the destination started to come close.

Ja tässä ensimmäinen näky tuohon maailmaan suurimpaan kaupunkiin, jonne on yhteydet vain jokea pitkin tai lentokoneella. - First look to this mystical city of Iquitos, that is the largest city in the word that can be reached only by river of airplane.

Jo satama tarjosi eksotiikkaa ja vaarallisia tilanteita. - Even in the harbor we could see exotic (and dangerous) situationes.

Enempää tavaa ei olisi mahtunutkaan mukaan. - I coudn´t have had any more stuff with me.

Kauniisti sanottuna tuoksuvan laivamatkan jälkeen oli parasta maailmassa päästä hotellille ja löytää oma viidakkohuone erittäinkin hyvin varusteltuna. - After smelly 2,5 days on board it was  best thing on eart to get to the hotel and find out, that our "jungle suite" was exellent in every way.

Näkymä meidän huoneen ikkunoista... - The room with a  view..

Paikan (Casa Fitzcarraldo) pihamaalla on oma pieni viidakko. - There is an own little jungle in the yard of Casa Fitzcarraldo.

Hotellin puutarhasta löytyi myös viisikerroksinen puumaja... - There was as well 5-floor-wood house in the hotel garden...

... jonka huipulta avautui näkymät aina Joelle saakka. Vieressä muita maanvaltaajia, hotellin omistaja Walter oli nimittäin yksinkertaisesti vallannut maan yhdessä ystäviensä kanssa 70-luvulla. Casa Fitzcarraldo on tunnettu erityisesti Werner Herzogin elokuvasta Fitzcarraldo. - ... and in the top you could see until the River. Next to hotel there were houses from other "land takers" from the 70s. One of the Casa Fitzcarraldo owners Walter had just simply taken over this land for the hotel in 70s. Hotel is well knows especially from Werner Herzog film "Fitzcarraldo".

Ja taas päästiin pääasiaan... - And again concentrating to the main issue...

Tulopäivän (24.12.) iltana kokoonnuimme muutamien vieraiden sekä hotellin johtakaksikon kanssa jouluillalliselle. Hyvin maistui puutarhamenu, eikä jouluähky iskenyt tänä vuonna. - In the evening of our arrival (24.12.) we gathered to eat Christmas dinner with few visitors and the hotel directors. Delicious menu in the garden.. what a Christmas eve!

Tämä näytteenä jouluruuista, kyseessä "viidakon pasta" eli erään palmulajin puuosasta irrotettavista nauhamaisista kuiduista. Löysimme tätä herkkua oikeastaan kaikista salaateista sielläpäin. - This picture as a taste f our Christmas dinner, the white part is called "jungle pasta". It is fibres of certain type of palm, and they use it in almost every salad there. Delicious!

Ja perinteinen heippakuva, hotellin puumajan toisesta/kolmannesta kerroksesta. Seuraavaan päivitykseen asti chao!! - The traditional bye bye photo, this time from the second/third level of the tree house at the hotel. Chao until next text!!

Viidakosta valtamerelle osa 1 - Welcome to the jungle...y vamos a la playa! Part 1

Lupaukset täytäntöön ja lisää päivittelyä! Pidän nyt kolmisen kertaa matkapäiväkirjaa jälkikäteen eli kerron joulu- eli kesälomamatkasta 18.12.2012-16.1.2013. Reittinä oli Cajamarca-Lima-Tarapoto-Yurimaguas-Iquitos-Lima-Chiclayo-Guayaquil (Ecuador)- Galapagos-saaret -Guayaquil-Chiclayo-Cajamarca.

As promised, there will be more text and photos coming this year. Theme of these three blog texts is my Christmas aka summer holiday trip with the route Cajamarca-Lima-Tarapoto-Yurimaguas-Iquitos-Lima-Chiclayo-Guayaquil (Ecuador)- Galapagos islands -Guayaquil-Chiclayo-Cajamarca (18.12.2012-16.1.2013).

LIMA 19.12.- 20.12.2012

Tulin Cajamarcasta yöbussilla Limaan 19.12., ja ystäväni Jeanete kävi hakemassa minut kiertelemään ja ihmettelemään Liman joulunodotusta. Kaupunki oli suuri Coca colan mainos.

I came with nightbus from Cajamarca to Lima 18.-19.12. and my friend Jeanete was welcoming me at the bus station. Then we continued with exploring the Christmas wonders of Lima. The city was a big Coca cola add.

Suomen joulun kaupallisuus on vielä kaukana Perun jouluhuumasta! - The Finnish hve a lot to learn how to make Christmas more comercional.

20.12. menin Liman lentokentälle ihanaista Anni-ystävääni vastaan sekä odottelemaan lentoa viidakkoon. Matkalle osui oivallisesti myös jalkahierontamahdollisuus, jota ei jätetty käyttämättä. Erityisesti Annille reilun 20 tunnin matkaamisen ja pitkien lentojen jälkeen hoito teki terää. - 20.12. I went to welcome my dear friend Anni from Finland to the Lima airport. As well we waited our flight to the Jungle. On the way we noticed a foot massge possibility. Highly recommened after long flights!

Viidakkoon ei lennetä jumbojetillä. - There are no jumbe jets going to the jungle.

TARAPOTO 21.-22.12.2012

Voihan viidakko ja Jokien joki! - First sight to jungle and to THE river!

Meidät vastaanotti Tapapotossa kuuma ja kosteus, sekä pieni kulotusprojekti heti lentokentän kupeessa. Annille kevyt 40-50 asteen hyppy Helsingistä Tarapotoon 30 tunnin sisällä. - The heat and humidity hitted us as soon as we got out from the plane. For Anni there was light difference of 40-50 celcius degrees between Helsinki and Tarapoto. And within 30 hours.

Viidakkoseimi Tarapoton keskusaukiolla - The Christmas crib of Tarapoto central plaza.

Ensimmäinen annos viidakkoruokaa, cecinaa (kovaksi paistettua sianlihaa) ja chorizoa (täyslihamakkaraa, nam) sekä yuca-mukulakasvista ja ruokabanaanista tehtyä pyrettä. - Fist plate of jungle food: some cecina (hard coocked pork mear) and chorizo with pyre of yuca (same kind of plant than potato) and food banana.

Lähdettiin 21.12. aamulla retkelle kohti Tarapotosta n. 15 km:n päässä sijaitsevaa vesiputousta.. Motot eli moottoripyörätaksit olivat läsnä myös viidakkoseudulla. - In the morning 21.12. we left for a day trip to see a waterfall about 15 kms away from Tarapoto. The "motos" aka motorbike taxis were present as well there.

Etelässä.. - We were really in the South..

...vesiputoukseen pääsi uimaan joulunaluspäivänä.. - you can swim in waterfall just before Christmas...

..ja siellä on Vihreää.. -..and it is Green in there..

... ja Isoja Puita! - ..as well as Big trees!!

Loka-marrakuun satoa 2 - What has happened since last update? -part 2

Isänpäiväviikonloppua vietin Huanchacossa, joka sijaitsee kuuden tunnin bussimatkan päässä Cajamarcasta, Tyynen valtameren rannalla.

On Fathers day weekend I went to Huanchaco, which is small city six hours by bus from Cajamarca. And coast of Pacific ocean.

Ihan pelkästä huvireissusta ei ollut kyse, kävin perjantaina 9.11. tutustumassa Colegio Alternativo Talentos:iin Trujillossa. - My trip to the coast was not only holiday, on Friday 9.11. I visited school "Colegio Alternativo Talentos" in Tujillo.

Kyse on yksityiskoulusta, jonka oppilaat maksavat n. 80-100 euroa kuukaudessa opetuksesta, materiaalit ja koulupuvut siihen päälle. - The school is private, and the students pay about 80-100 euros in moth for the education. Plus material expences and they buy also their uniforms.

Vänkä aakkospeli päiväkodin oppilaille. Koulu käsittää luokat päiväkodista aina colegion viidenteen, jolloin oppilaat ovat 18-vuotiaita. - Funny game to learn alphabet. School includes classes from kindergarden to the fifth class of secondary school, when students are 18 years old.

Ruokailutila, jossa oppilaat syövät omia eväitään tai koulun kioskin antimia. - Eating salon, where students eat their own food or something they bought in the school kiosk.

Aikamoinen Disneyland kyseessä, enpäs ole Suomessa tällaisiin kouluihin tutustunut. - What a Disneyland. I haven´t seen this kind of luxus schools in Finland.

Suomen koulutusjärjestelmän ja Pisa-tulosten esittelyä koulun henkilökunnalle. - Presentating Finnish education system and Pisa test result to the staff.

Tuli Harry Potterit muutaman kerran mieleen. - I couldn´t resist thinking of Harry Potter few times.

Sitten koitti viikonlopun riemut, muun muassa surffitunti numero 2. -  Then it was time for vacation activities, like surfing lesson number 2.

Pelikaaneja - Pelicans

Hieman mainosta: Huanchacosta löytyy suomalaisomistuksessa oleva surf hostel Meri, matkaa rannalle tuolta ovelta n. 50 metriä. Suosittelen! - Little bit advertising: There is a Finnish owned surf hostel called Meri in Huanchaco. From that door you have to walk 50 meters to the beach. I recommend!

Näissä tunnelmissa oli mukava jatkaa taas arkipuuhia Cajamarcassa. Lämpötilaerot kun ovat jopa parinkymmenen asteen luokkaa. Mutta: hasta la proxima - seuraavaan kertaan!

With the energy of beach and sunshine I returned to Cajamarca with a smile. The difference of temperature can be more than 20 degrees.. But: hasta la proxima - until the next time!

Loka-marraskuun satoa - What has happened since last update?

No niin, nyt on syntymäpäivät juhlittu ja pääsen taas päivittämään myös tänne blogiin. Paljon on ehtinyt tapahtua viimeisen merkinnän jälkeen, kerron siis tässä merkinnässä kuvien kanssa vähän kaikesta.

Well, I have had my big bithday party and now there is time as well to write here. A lot has happened since last update, so I will tell little about everything with fotos.

Lauantaina 3.11. lähdimme kaveriporukalla viettämään pyhäinpäivää San Pablon kylään. Kylä sijaitsee noin 1,5 tunnin ajomatkan päässä Cajamarcasta. Ja taksilla mentiin, taisi maksaa noin 6 euroa suunta per henkilö.

On Saturday 3 November we left with some friends to San Pablo village. This village is about 1,5 hours away from Cajamarca. And taxi drive it was, costed about 6 euros one way for one person.

Ensimmäinen kunnon katsaus laamaeläimiin. -  First good look to laama animals.

Ei nämä maisemat nyt niin kaukana ole kotikulmista. - It looks little bit like Finland!

Paitsi että täällä puiden oksien ei tarvitse kannatella lunta. - Difference to Finnish trees is that the branches go up, there is no need to carry heavy load of snow.

Ihastuttava kotiravintolan (meidän lounasravintola) keittiö San Pablon kylässä. - Wonderful home-restaurant kitchen (our lunch restaurant) in San Pablo.

Keittiön keskellä kasvaa marsuja. - Guinea pigs are grown middle of  the kitchen.

Jatkoimme matkaa San Pablon kylästä kohti esi-inka-aikojen seremoniakeskusta Kuntur Wasia. Matkalla näkyi muun muassa paikallisen hernekasvin kuivatusta. - We continued from San Pablo to visit a pre-inca seremonial center Kuntur Wasi. On the way we saw for example a man drying local plants.

Sivuutimme myös taistelukukkokoulun. - We passed as well a school for fighting roosters.

Tervetuloa Kuntur Wasiin! - Welcome to Kuntur Wasi!

 
 Kuntur Wasin patsaat ovat parhaiten säilyneitä osia seremoniakeskuksesta. - The statues in Kuntur Wasi are one of the best restored parts of ceremonial center.

Maisemat olivat upeita myös 2,5 kilometrin korkeudessa. - The view was amazing also 2,5 kilometres above sea level.

"Tuijaksi" kutsuttu parasiittikasvi, joka elää ilmajuuriensa kanssa isomman puun oksalla. - Parasite plant called "Tuija" that lives with air roots on the branch of bigger tree.

Pääaukion portaat ovat suurin säilynyt rakennelma Kuntur Wasissa. - The stairs of main square is the biggest restored sight in Kuntur Wasi.
